YOU

You. I have a habit of leaving things out or trailing off some place else when put on the spot. But when it comes to you, I have this habit of not letting things slide and being the one who puts so much pressure just to get what I want. I'm sorry I can't help hating the not knowing, the not being with you so much and the not seeing your face. I want you to know that I do tell you everything, just not all at once, it's in tiny little capsules. If you feel like I hold something back, I'm not holding anything back. You just have to squeeze it out of me, but I'll give in. I'll always give in. 

I want to write about you. The straightforward, no-bullshit kind of writing. But I can't yet. So here's an edited version of something I wrote for you. 

I remember the first time I met you almost two years ago. It was the first workshop for the applicants of UP Buklod-Isip. I remember thinking how out of place you seemed. You were this tall, alpha-male type who didn’t seem to be all that interested. I know it's cliché to say this, but as I got to know you, you proved my first impressions wrong. I guess that's the reason why I got so interested in you. Out of nowhere, there's this slightly interesting person I wanted in my life. But then, I had to back off. =) A year later we became classmates. And then, that was the beginning of something else all together. 

You’ll be the quiet guy at first, just observing everyone else. Next thing I know, you're at the heart of everything that’s happening. You really get to know someone through the things he values. And you put a premium on other people’s happiness. You put so much in to make me happy. You're the jester, the joker, the one who I want to be there to avoid awkward moments. You're the type of person who is up for anything if you really like the company. You're one to have moments with. Those moments I can take with me and tell people about. And maybe that’s why people gravitate around you. That's why I'm here, with you. 

You're my go-to person. You show genuine concern for everyone you're close to. And you try to do everything you can to help someone. I can call you in a crisis because I know you’ll pick up the phone and that you’ll walk me through everything. And I like that about you. You're someone anyone can count on.

I think everyone’s purpose in life is to achieve something bigger than himself. And you, no matter how much you deny it, are already leaving your own indelible mark in this world. I am so proud of you and your courage to do what you want and to pursue your passion. You have your principles to guide you. I am excited that you will get to share your knowledge to children who really need you. You inspire me and you inspire a lot of people around you. Thank you for being you. :)
